Recently, we hosted our annual Kickoff Retreat in New York City for our new Afro Scholars cohort. The new scholars, who will be entering law schools around the country this upcoming fall, participated in several team-building activities and events that included sight-seeing at Summit One Vanderbilt, a private pre-reception networking lunch, and a networking reception hosted by our name-sponsor, Kirkland & Ellis, in their New York City office. Scholars met with several attorneys, recruiting staff and the Firm’s Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Director. The retreat kicks off what will be another immersive year of training, where these talented law students will participate in both virtual and in-person professional development workshops, interview for summer positions at an exclusive Afro Scholar job fair with our corporate sponsors, and receive one-on-one mentorship from attorneys at top law firms and corporations.
